Written by Shawn
Wednesday, 12 July 2006

Lindsay Lohan
Lindsay Lohan has been selected as the new multi-million dollar celebrity spokesperson for Proactiv Solution anti-acne products.

Lohan joins a long list of celebrities endorsing the product including Jessica Simpson, Alicia Keys, Sean 'Diddy' Combs, Elle MacPherson, Brooke Shields and Kelly Clarkson.

In the two-minute spots which began airing Monday on MTV and E!, Lohan states, "My skin, thanks to Proactiv, is clear all the time!" Of course Lohan loves proactive she is getting paid 2 million dollars for the deal. Pay me $50,000 and I will say I love proactiv as well. The people that have acne problems are going to try proactiv anyway so why not just save the 2 million dollars and give it to breakingmusicnews.com for the business tip.

According to Forbes magazine Lohan is not making as much as other celebrities have for the endorsement. Combs reportedly made 3 million and Jessica Simspons 2.5 million.

Visit the Proactiv website and get great looking skin (free endorsement from us)

Chili Pepper Calls U2 and Black Eyed Peas Sell-Outs
Written by Shawn
Saturday, 08 July 2006

Red Hot Chili Peppers
Red Hot Chili Peppers drummer Chad Smith has slammed U2 and The Black Eyed Peas for allowing their music to be used on television advertisements.

Smith thinks bands lose their integrity and “sell-out” when they sell their songs to huge corporations. Smith refers to U2 and The Black Eyed Peas” as idiots for letting their tracks "Vertigo" and "Hey Mama" be used to promote the sale of Apple’s Ipod.

Smith says, "I'm fine with getting our music out to people but I don't want to be on a TV commercial with some guy bowling and then music comes out of his phone. There's no artistic credibility. I'd feel like a jerk if we did that. "I think Black Eyed Peas look like a bunch of idiots. It's dangerous."

He goes on to say “It’s dangerous to tie yourself in with a product and also the visuals that go along with it.”I think young people, not old guys like myself, think it's normal now to have Led Zeppelin on jeans commercials. Oh no! That's not normal to me."

Smith is right in some regards; many bands do sell out and are only in this business for the money and groupies.

Universal to Package CDs in Cardboard
Written by Shawn

Universal
Universal hopes to jump start cd sales by switching to cardboard-covered CDs. The plan is to lower the cost of the cd's so they can compete with online music sales. Many consumers get music free, or at a discount, online and have given up on traditional cd's.

Executive vice president of Universal Max Hole (yes its Max Hole) says, "We thought we should reboot the consumer's experience of buying CDs." The problem is not the packaging the problem is the overall cost. The cost to make a cd is only a few dollars per cd. Then we see the cd for sale at $12-$16. That mark up for stupid stuff (like more money for the artist) is what kills the sales of cds.
