Well what can I say, Tha Dogg Pound is at it again. Snoop Dogg, Daz Dillinger and Kurupt (aka Young Gotti) have finally come out with what many hoped to be the revivement of the Westside. I also had very high expectations for this album. Now before this review, I had read many other reviews of this album before, and the DPG were given a big slap to the face for their lyrics. The lyrics weren't given the "Eminem" look over for their vulgarity, but just for the plain quality of them. Many of the rhymes were very badly written and some of them rhymed with the same words over and over again. It's sad that the lyrics were pretty poor, but I thought that the album had some of the nicest, freshest beats I have ever heard. Even if the words didn't fit in with each other, the beats were completely compatible with the lyrics and pieced the sound of the album together. The collaboraters in the album included Nate Dogg, RBX, Ice Cube, Lady Of Rage, Diddy, David Banner and Paul Wall. These artists did quite a good job by adding their two cents, and I expected them too, I mean look at that line up. The only artist who I feel didn't add anything to the album (and I don't mean to be sexist) was Lady Of Rage. To be honest she sounds like some sort of Lil' Kim wannabe who sells her music with her body. But overall the collaborates performed well on this album in my opinion. Another thing that was questioned on the album was the level of maturity. Since these guys were so huge in their prime in the 90's, and are rapping about the same stuff now, it seems there has been no growing up, and nothing new. But since lots of hip-hop fans were too young to experience the explosion of rap ten-plus years ago, I guess it is a good idea to open up that era to the youth.
I hate to give such good artists a bad review, but overall I grade this album mediocre. Watch DPG's new video Cali Iz Active here DPG's Official Site |

Shocker Shocker
This may be a suprise to everyone but Lance Bass (Former member of NSYNC) has confirmed to People magazine that he is gay.
Lance was tired of all the rumors about him being gay so he finally admited that the rumors were true.
Bass has been spotted at the gay bar Atlantic House in Provincetown, Massachusetts. Several bloggers on gay and lesbian newspaper The Washington Blade's website had also spotted the entertainer at a number of parties.
The 27-year-old pop star says he didn't speak about his sexuality when he was in 'NSYNC because he didn't want to damage the group's career.
Bass is currently dating Amazing Race reality TV star Reichen Lehmkuhl.
We will file this news under "Who Cares" and "It's Obvious"

Fans of singer Beyonce Knowles have formed a petition demanding she re-shoots her music video for “Deja Vu”, because it's not good enough.
The petition was handed to her label Columbia Records. The fans are angry about the production of the "Deja Vu" video, Knowles' costumes and steamy love scenes with the singer and her rapper boyfriend Jay-Z. Love scenes don’t bother this writer.
The petition states, "The video is an underwhelming representation of the talent and quality of previous music video projects of Ms. Knowles. The editing causes one to get dizzy and disorientated. The dancing is erratic, confusing and alarming. Her outfits are unbelievable and ridiculous.
It goes on to state "The sexual themes between the duo are alarming and show unacceptable interactions between the two."
I think Beyonce is HOT in that video, but she could always use fewer clothes in her videos.

U2, one of the largest bands in the world, have decided to bring Kanye West on the road with them. The shows they are playing are make up shows in Japan, Australia and New Zealand. The cancellation of the dates last year were due to the illness plaguing the U2 entourage. Kanye West will be opening for U2's make up shows for all of these dates. It seems strange for a hip hop artist like Kanye West to be playing shows with a more Rock genre group. But being Kanye, he must push the envelope. Maybe it's because he was voted the whitest black guy ever. Either way, the amount of publicity of these shows will be a definite surplus. |
